The Roundup: No Way Out Plot
Seven years after cleaning up the streets of Vietnam in the previous film, the tenacious Detective Ma Seok-do (Ma Dong-seok) is back in South Korea.
Now a member of a new squad in the Metropolitan Investigation Unit, Seok-do finds himself investigating the seemingly straightforward murder of a woman named Go Sun-hee.
However, a routine case takes a sharp turn when an autopsy reveals traces of a mysterious new synthetic drug called “Hiper” in Sun-hee’s system.
Driven by his unwavering sense of justice, Seok-do delves deeper, following a trail that leads him to the city’s underbelly.
His investigation lands him at a nightclub, where he confronts the owner and uncovers a connection to a ruthless yakuza member named Hiroshi.
With his trademark blend of brute force and cunning, Seok-do and his team manage to capture Hiroshi and seize a significant amount of Hiper.
Just when they think they’ve made a breakthrough, things take a violent turn. A corrupt cop named Joo Sung-chul, revealed later to be the leader of a powerful criminal syndicate known as the White Shark Clan, orchestrates an ambush.
He eliminates Hiroshi to eliminate loose ends and snatches the confiscated Hiper, leaving Seok-do and his team shaken but not broken.
Meanwhile, the yakuza, furious at the loss of their product, dispatch a ruthless hitman named Ricky to retrieve the stolen drugs.
This sets off a dangerous chain reaction, igniting a turf war between Ricky and the White Shark Clan, both hellbent on controlling the lucrative Hiper trade.
Undeterred by the escalating violence, Seok-do refuses to back down. He tirelessly pursues leads, determined to bring down the entire operation. H
His pursuit takes him to another drug supplier named Tomo, but before Seok-do can make an arrest, Ricky intervenes with deadly force, eliminating Tomo and further escalating the drug war.
With the body count rising and the city on the brink of chaos, Seok-do hatches a daring plan. He utilizes his network of informants, including a resourceful acquaintance named Chorong, to set up a sting operation.
Luring Joo Sung-chul to a prearranged location with the promise of a massive Hiper deal, Seok-do prepares for a final showdown.
